My mother in law didn’t like her given name so she went by her middle name “Arlene”. And she wanted to be known as Grandmother or Mother–rather formal. She was definitely the wife of a commander and could give you “The Look” if she thought you were out of order/being ridiculous/not doing the right thing in her opinion. Kurt had some fun recollections. I didn’t really get to know her well personally, but my sister-in-law did. She doted on Kurt, remembered Scott fiercely and wanted to do what she could for family, always. She had wanted Kurt and me to remarry in the Mormon Temple for *reasons*, but that did not happen. When she passed on in 2002, she was eventually joined by her husband in 2007 at Arlington National Cemetery. When the urn was placed, Jill said, “Now you two, No fighting!”
