  1. Kurt and I were introduced to Jan through another friend of ours at TC, I believe it was louis, around 1972/73. Jan was a complicated person, but a good guy. I believe and feel he was not a people person, he seemed better off with machines than people. He also seemed to be okay around us guys, but was intimidated around women. Once, at T.C., he wanted me to introduce him to a girl I was friends with. I tried but he choked up doing so and turned around and left her on the spot. Even though TC at the time was a very modern school and Northern VA at the time was very current on the world situation, TC was still a small school compared to the enrollment at VPI. I just feel he would rather be in a small world of his own. Kurt tried helping Jan out as much as he could, but I believe the large social environment at VPI just overwhelmed Jan to the point I feel he didn’t fit in with life anymore. He also had a large revolver that was never found, and I will always believe he took his own life, a sad ending for a basically good person.
