Dad’s purpose in life was to take care of Mom. He would make the off color joke and she would sigh and roll her eyes but they both knew what their relationship meant. Some 8 years later, more or less, Mom was lost to various complications due to various complications. With Mom gone Dad went into a decline ~Kurt
Sue : Dad Christensen passed away in 2008. Kurt loved his Mom but his Dad occupied a special place in determining what kind of person Kurt wanted to become when an adult. Remembering his Dad, Kurt knew a man “who always loved me no matter what stupid things I did growing up”. Kurt tried to be like his Dad in many ways and to be a good influence on his kids. He was an extremely gentle man who only spanked a child (Eric) once in his life–extremely regretfully and sorrowfully. (Eric says twice). He saw his sons do things or forgo opportunities they should have enjoyed without harsh words from him only sadness at times.He let each child learn what they needed to learn without interference in their lives. And I think he learned some of this from Dad Christensen’s way with Kurt himself and with the upbringing Kurt had that to be a Christensen involved a certain probity and sense of duty.
And yes, they will miss their Dad too.
