House Drinks

I don’t know about before, but by the time we returned from Texas, [there was] the House Drink –would you care for a Manhattan? Dad was the kitchen lifter for Mom, picking up the heavy stuff with her right at his elbow fussing.  ~Kurt

Sue: Putting in or taking out Thanksgiving turkey  from the oven comes to mind…

We really didn’t drink much in Texas or Virginia, just occasionally and on holidays.  Once Kurt built the bar in Westminster, the Kurt Christensen house drinks were “Dirty and Sweet Oh Yeah” martinis  (with olives, pickled onions and vermouth) and for the non-alcoholic it was “The Christensen”: Jamaican Ginger Beer and lime juice.   Behind the bar in the Man Cave, Kurt was also a great one to be a mixologist–sometimes the results were very good, other times only he would drink it.  Cheers!
