I still recall the realtor coming downstairs to this huge empty paneled space in our 1959 house. It had a large stone fireplace, sliding doors to outside and a couple of window wells for light. The ceiling was that brown particle board (Utility OSB) and the lighting was still 1950’s. She wrinkled her nose and said, “Well. this could be freshened up and painted white. Oh no. Nothing would change because it was the Man Cave, dark to watch videos. Add the big screen TV, your collections, build a great bar with a wine frig and icemaker. Get some reclining comfy couches and spend your time down there. Honestly, it could get pretty cluttered because Kurt did a lot of stuff on the bar counter-setting up a computer to run the 3D printers and so on. Plus he kept tools on the counter and well… stuff everywhere in the Man Cave. I just ignored it, mostly, until company was expected then Kurt would throw everything into boxes and put those out in the garage… more on that later.
