Mom knew that once you retire, you tend to stop…stop doing. Stop thinking, just stop. Oh please. After Dad retired…for the third time, Mom had a great plan. She decided that she was going to coerce him to go back to work by boring him with soap operas. Bad plan. He decided he liked them and started taping the ones she would otherwise miss. She would complain, but having him around didn’t drive her crazy like she had feared. ~Kurt
Sue: This was a frequent topic of humorous conversation–the Soap Opera Ploy–at our home. Kurt would not have been able to handle the type of do-nothing retirement. What he wanted was time to work on his many ideas and projects that he never seemed to be able to put enough time into–unless he was between jobs. Not a great combination.
