Not a Gardener

Sue observes that he (Father Christensen) liked to taker her to tour through the garden. He always pointed out the horseradish and asked her if she knew what they were. Dad loved his azaleas and camellias (made a video of them). He was always trying to find an apricot with an pit that tasted like almonds.  ~Kurt

Sue: This was a memory of Utah apricots he had. Interestingly,  Kurt had no feel or liking for gardening. He enjoyed grazing the fruit and vegetables off plants in the garden on some occasions. He really enjoyed when I grew veggies in pots (pre-farm) along the retaining wall, driveway and sidewalks. He would get home from work and walk over to harvest peapods growing up a trellis in a pot. He had no liking for the labor involved and couldn’t understand why I liked the very untidy cottage gardening style. Basically, he would have been perfectly happy to have nothing to do with the outdoorsr–have kids labor as soon as they were old enough seems to be what happened.
