Compare this picture below of Niels with Kurt’s HS pictures. When he smiles to show his dimples there is a strong resemblance. But Kurt’s self confidence,charisma and physical magnetism was already through the roof at that age.
I didn’t realize it for many years but Kurt and I went to school together for 4 years as he was a year ahead of everyone else his age because he was that smart! 1971-1972, George Washington H/School, me, 10th grade, I’d just gotten back from 2+ years in N. Syracuse NY. We were both there, we just hadn’t met yet. 1972 to 1974, T.C. Williams High School, the Golden years! And 1974 to 1975, Northern VA Community College was really Kurt’s senior year of High School because they couldn’t teach him any more at TC!. We also both worked part time at the Hecht Company in Landmark Center. Some of the best years of our lives.
